Hailing from the deserts of the Coachella Valley, “Whitewater” is an alternative rock group with a distinct and visceral sound. Formed in late 2023, the band consists of lead singer and guitarist Jason Zembo, drummer Daniel “D-Nasty” Duardo, guitarist and singer Ryan Priest, and bassist Emanuel Torres. Named after a song by local legends and influence “Kyuss” (and partially influenced by the location Jason and Ryan look for rattlesnakes at night in their free time), the band established their identity quickly in the local scene as a powerhouse rock group. With memorable melodies and riffs, soaring vocal lines revolving around introspective song writing, and a driving rhythmic core, the band is a unique blend of melodic alt rock and desert grunge reminiscent of artists such as Soundgarden, Nirvana, RHCP, Jane’s Addiction, and Alice In Chains. With a couple years under their belt, the band has spent their time writing music, perfecting their craft and vision, and playing energy infused live shows in the underground SoCal desert rock scene, cementing themselves among their peers without having any released music as of yet. On June 19th, 2026 the band released their debut single “Threw It All Away”, recorded and produced at Fireside Sound Studio, owned and operated by Devlin Thorn and Christopher Thorn of Blind Melon, Afghan Whigs, AWOLNATION and other projects. Following the release of their debut single, the band looks to release more music and grow their audience beyond the deserts of their hometown in Southern California.
